Lost Beneath The Surface
Lost Beneath The Surface is a maze game by GameDolphin in which you play a firefly trapped beneath the surface, in the dark. Your light radius pulses and contracts, and the maze is generated fresh each time, so the way out is never where you left it.
Scattered through the maze are firefly helmets. Grab one and you can see further and survive a hit; meet an enemy without one and it costs you. The tension is a resource problem - light is limited, and every detour costs some of it. Built with Phaser, with an old-school chunky pixel font and procedural maze generation.
How to Play
- Push the walls away as you explore the maze.
- Find firefly helmets to extend your light radius.
- Avoid the enemies, or hit them only while wearing a helmet.
- Find the exit before your light fails.
Controls
- Arrow keys - move
- Space - interact
- Esc - menu
Tips
A helmet is worth more than a shortcut. If your light radius is dropping, take the detour to a helmet rather than pushing further into an unlit corridor and hoping the exit is close.
