Captain Rogers
Captain Rogers is a retro shoot-'em-up by Enclave Games that pays homage to the Captain Video segment that shipped on Taito's Space Invaders Part II. You fly the eponymous saucer over a scrolling city skyline, weaving between descending invaders.
The distinctive mechanic is the dual-beam attack: a narrow deflector beam that absorbs incoming fire and a wide proton beam that sweeps a large arc. A tight deflector deflects but kills slowly, so you constantly trade safety against clearing speed. Levels alternate between two city backdrops as the pace rises.
How to Play
- Fly with the arrow keys or WASD.
- Hold the primary button for the deflector beam; the wide beam fires with the secondary button.
- Absorb shots with the deflector, then sweep the proton beam to finish groups.
- Clear the wave before it reaches the ground.
Controls
- Arrow keys or WASD - move
- Z / J - deflector beam
- X / K - proton beam
- P - pause
Tips
The deflector is a bubble, not a wall - hold it while a dense volley is incoming, then release into the proton beam. If you try to kill everything with the deflector you will never finish a level on time.
