Pappu Pakia
Pappu Pakia is a vertical scrolling shooter by Siddharth Kannan, entered in GitHub Game Off 2012. You control a small ship along the bottom of a scrolling field, catching falling items while bombs and other hazards rain down past.
The tension comes from the two-at-once pressure: the good items you need to score descend on the same lanes as the things that kill you, and there is no safe lane for long. Missing a catch loses points directly, so the optimal line is a tight zigzag that picks up clean columns. Built as a plain canvas game with a chunky bitmap font and no dependencies.
How to Play
- Move left and right along the bottom of the screen.
- Catch the falling items to score.
- Dodge the bombs and other hazards.
- Survive as long as you can.
Controls
- Arrow keys or A / D - move
- P - pause
Tips
Read two screens ahead rather than reacting. The catchable items cluster, so drifting toward the next cluster early and letting hazards pass on their own beats chasing each item individually.
